Many people who owned the original 64 know what Super Smash Brothers is like. We all enjoyed pounding our friends into the ground with DK or frying their brains with Pikachu. Well Nintendo has done it again, this time with more modes, items, and characters than ever before.
To start with the gameplay is amazing. If you’re into 1-player action, the first thing you'll notice is the new adventure mode. This mode takes you through a series of maze levels, races, and battles with all the different characters. They also added a stadium mode where you can participate in events such as a home run contest. In multi-player mode, they added many new levels, 25 characters to pick from (after unlocking all of them), and more options available to you than you'd ever think possible. But Nintendo didn't stop there...
Thanks to the amazing power of the GC and some great artists at Nintendo, SSBM's graphics are truly amazing. The levels are large, colorful, and interactive and include some rather stunning effects. The characters also got a make over, from the hair on DK to the denim of Mario's overalls (and yes, it does look like denim.) There is enough eye candy here to please any gamer.
Sound has also seen an improvement. They added more new tracks and revised the old. They even included a new rendition of the DK Rap in one of the multi-player levels. With new games like this one, I can only imagine what Nintendo will be shipping to gamers in a year, let alone two.
I recommend this game to anyone who owns a Nintendo Gamecube.
